What Qualifies as an Emergency?

Fire

Call 911 immediately. Pull the fire alarm. Evacuate the building using stairs, not elevators.

Flooding / Water Leak

Turn off the water source if safe. Move belongings away from water. Contact property management immediately.

Gas Leak / Electrical Emergency

Leave the area immediately. Do not use light switches or electronics. Call 911 and your gas provider.

Break-In / Safety Threat

Call 911 first. Do not confront anyone. Lock yourself in a safe room if possible. Then contact property management.

After-Hours Emergencies

For maintenance emergencies outside of business hours (evenings, weekends, holidays), contact the emergency line provided in your lease agreement or building notice board.

What counts as an after-hours emergency:

  • No heat in winter (below 20°C / 68°F inside)
  • Major water leak or flooding
  • Complete power outage in your unit
  • Broken lock or security issue
  • Gas smell or carbon monoxide alarm
