What Qualifies as an Emergency?
Fire
Call 911 immediately. Pull the fire alarm. Evacuate the building using stairs, not elevators.
Flooding / Water Leak
Turn off the water source if safe. Move belongings away from water. Contact property management immediately.
Gas Leak / Electrical Emergency
Leave the area immediately. Do not use light switches or electronics. Call 911 and your gas provider.
Break-In / Safety Threat
Call 911 first. Do not confront anyone. Lock yourself in a safe room if possible. Then contact property management.
After-Hours Emergencies
For maintenance emergencies outside of business hours (evenings, weekends, holidays), contact the emergency line provided in your lease agreement or building notice board.
What counts as an after-hours emergency:
- No heat in winter (below 20°C / 68°F inside)
- Major water leak or flooding
- Complete power outage in your unit
- Broken lock or security issue
- Gas smell or carbon monoxide alarm
